2. Target public and/or societal partner. 

The primary target public of the proposed policy intervention is extended to all European elderly citizens and those who are preparing themselves to be so. This proposal is focused on the elderly age and in the value of providing a tool that allows keeping their memories accessible to the rest of the generations. Ultimately those will be the second public target, benefiting from the knowledge preserved in the repository. The strength of a society and its institutions are grounded in its history nurturing. The elderly generations constitute a reservoir of memory and wisdom as they preserve the knowledge and experience that nurtured our most recent times. Their knowledge and experiences constitute not only a heritage for their own families but an important contribution to the communities to which they belong.

This proposal, therefore, is pointing as societal partners, those public institutions leading the cultural and educational activities, and also those who are directly involved with the promotion of the welfare of the elderly citizens. 3. Description of the expected output: 

The aim of this proposal is to remark the value of keeping the elderly knowledge accessible. This can be done by taking advantage of the current technology and social media apps, providing a leveling field regarding digital content generation. The potentialities of such an initiative can lead to information and education expansions. The value of wisdom in ancient cultures can now reach a new dimension in this new century. Any European elderly citizen can now transmit his/her knowledge and preserve it in a virtual repository. This will be as well an opportunity to show that elderly people can manage new technologies when those are displayed in a friendly user environment. The specific experience proposed in this policy brief will allow limited storage capacity and customized management.

As a second output, the proposed research will delineate recommendations for the implementation of this virtual repository, in regard to the media support (apps) and the elderly knowledge’s categorization that can be useful for the younger generations. To establish the potential topics, different generational specific features will be reviewed and this will be complemented with the corresponding analysis of relevant events and core values that determined the corresponding time periods and their institution developments.

This will be as well an opportunity to show that elderly people can manage new technologies when those are displayed in friendly user experience, and allowed to have a limited storage space that can be managed as the user prefers.

As a second output, the proposed research will delineate recommendations for the implementation of this virtual repository, in regard of the media support (apps) and      elderly knowledge’s categorization that can be useful for youngest generations. To establishes the potential topics, the generational specific features will be reviewed and this will be complemented with the correspondent relevant events and core values that determined time periods and their institutions.       

  4. Summary

The policy brief to be produced will highlight the value of the knowledge that European elderly people can transmit to the younger generations. The main goal is to use the technologies available to keep this wisdom as a part of the heritage of European societies. It aims to provide a memory and learning tool for the coming generations who will access the stored knowledge and memories, which will relate the fundamental stones of the strength of European society.

This virtual repository, as a tool, will also constitute an interesting opportunity for elderly people to continue updating their knowledge of the new media platforms and social media. It will allow them to manage new technologies displayed in a friendly user environment, and to customize a limited storage capacity that can be managed according to the users’ preferences to record their experiences and memories.

Therefore, the benefit of such a virtual repository will be multidimensional and multigenerational. Any European citizen could benefit, as a creator or receiver of the knowledge stored. The potentiality of such a virtual repository is to promote and to develop a process of citizen’s learning.

The proposed brief will remark the importance of an alliance between public and private institutions to preserve this valuable information stored in the virtual repository. The cohesion and synergy spillovers of public-private teamwork and community engagements will be explained in this brief as positive externalities of the implementation of this virtual repository. The proposal will be developed in a lapse of 2 months, in which the two parts will be produced i) the theoretical frame supporting the importance of the elderly wisdom conservation, and ii) recommendations for the implementation of the virtual repository.The policy brief to be produced will highlight the value of the knowledge that European elderly people can transmit to the other generations, using the new technologies to keep this wisdom as a part of the heritage of the societies. It aims to provide a learning tool for the coming generations who will access to these knowledge and memories, which constitutes fundamental stones of the strength of the European society.

This virtual repository, as a tool, will be also an interesting opportunity for the elderly people to continue updating their knowledge of the new media platforms and social media, allow them to manage new technologies displayed in a friendly user experience, and using a limited storage space that can be manage as the user prefers to record their experiences.

Therefore, the benefit of a virtual repository will multidimensional and multigenerational, with any citizen can benefit as a creator or receiver of the knowledge, and develop a process of learning to any citizen.
